What do you actually do at Bettermove (in plain English)?
I work across a couple different areas, mainly helping the sales team and the progression team to keep everything running smoothly. I also support the viewings department when they get busy and step in wherever I’m needed to make sure nothing gets missed.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
I enjoy knitting and I love to play switch games especially Zelda! I also love going on nature walks and treating myself to the occasional shopping spree.
What’s something people would never guess about you?
I have walked on a glacier!
What’s your favourite thing right now — a food, film, show, hobby, gadget or place you love?
Cooking! I love watching cooking videos online and trying out new recipes.
What’s the most unusual or surprising job you’ve ever had before Bettermove?
While studying in York, I worked in a lively, quirky pub that had a full wall of taxidermy. It definitely wasn’t your average workplace and always full of character.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Be kind to yourself — you don’t have to know everything straight away.
What’s your go-to guilty pleasure (food, show, snack or soundtrack)?
At the moment – I have really been enjoying a range of music albums. A couple of current favourites include Lily Allen’s West End Girl and Genesis Owusu’s Smiling With No Teeth.
What’s one thing you think Bettermove does better than anyone else?
How quickly we can buy a property.
What’s one thing you’ve learned about property that you wish more people understood?
How important it is to sell a property at the right price.
What’s the most useful skill you’ve developed since working in property?
Before joining Bettermove, I’d never worked in an office environment. Since being here, I’ve developed strong communication skills, especially on the phone. Speaking to people has always come naturally, but working under pressure has helped me become more confident and capable.
