What do you actually do at Bettermove (in plain English)?
I work closely with the CEO to keep the whole operation running smoothly day to day. I manage the office and the team, fine-tune systems and processes, and constantly look for better ways to work. I’m also hands-on with supporting the team on valuations and negotiations to help get the best results for our clients.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
Most of my time outside work is spent with my family at home with my partner and our two boys. Life is very full-on with football and kickboxing most days of the week, including weekends. When we do get a quiet moment, I really appreciate just relaxing together.
What’s something people would never guess about you?
People are usually surprised to find out that I’m actually quite introverted once I switch off from work mode. I’m confident at work, but in my own time I prefer quieter nights in and small groups over big social events. I definitely recharge better that way.
What’s your favourite thing right now — a food, film, show, hobby, gadget or place you love?
My favourite thing right now is learning to speak Spanish. I’ve been learning for about a year and my goal is to be fully conversational within the next year. One of our consultants, Dan, is fluent, so having him around the office is a great way for me to practise.
What’s the most unusual or surprising job you’ve ever had before Bettermove?
When I was at college, I used to restring tennis rackets at the local Tennis Club. It’s quite a random job looking back, but I actually really enjoyed it. It definitely taught me patience and attention to detail.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
“Not everything needs a reaction.” It’s helped me pause, think clearly, and not get pulled into unnecessary stress. It’s something I use both at work and in everyday life.
What’s your go-to guilty pleasure (food, show, snack or soundtrack)?
Binge-watching The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Total guilty pleasure, but sometimes you just need something easy to switch off to. No regrets!
What’s one thing you think Bettermove does better than anyone else?
We’ve streamlined everything to make the journey as smooth as possible for both buyers and sellers. Our team moves fast, nothing gets left behind, and communication is always a priority. Everyone jumps on things immediately, which makes a huge difference to the experience.
What’s one thing you’ve learned about property that you wish more people understood?
Choosing the right solicitor for your conveyancing makes a massive difference. A good conveyancer can make the whole process faster, smoother and far less stressful. It really can be the difference between an easy sale and a difficult one.
What’s the most useful skill you’ve developed since working in property?
Problem-solving, without a doubt. After 15 years in property, people come to me when there’s a problem to fix, and I genuinely believe there’s always a solution. Working at Bettermove has helped me develop that skill even further.
